This is my happy place. What’s your happy place?
—
I’ve been on the struggle bus a little lately because my happy place has been more unpredictable than usual. The pandemic has caused a crazy amount of disruption in the church…and something that I’ve come to count on hasn’t been there for me to lean on like I normally can.
I miss people. I miss my teammates. I miss our church body. I miss worshipping together. And even though all the things I miss are good things - they can become an idol.
If we can’t worship God outside of our happy places - then our worship needs some strengthening. Our worship needs to grow deeper…our worship needs to mature.
Loving God right now; it’s not a breeze. In some ways it seems harder to find him…and in some moments he seems closer than ever. The greatest growth happens in discomfort…but so does some of our greatest mistakes.
I’m encouraged by the writer of Lamentations…who in the middle of describing incredible ruin, manages to find hope in the faithfulness of God: and worship anyway.
Lamentations
3:23 Because of the Lord’s great love, we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail…great is your faithfulness.
Just an encouragement // worship anyway // even when you don’t feel like it.
